-- Hot Wheels Redlines 1968-1977 --
This was the first group of cars Hot Wheels released in 1968, including Custom Camaro, Custom Mustang, Deora, Custom Eldorado, Beatnik Bandit and Custom Cougar.
The second release in 1969 feature some highly desirable models, like Custom Police Cruiser, Custom AMX, Classic '32 Ford Vicky, Custom Charger and the Volkswagen Beach Bomb. The Grand Prix Series also debuted in 1969.
1970 was the final run of Grand Prix cars, and the first run of the Spoilers Series, which included Light My Firebird, TNT-Bird, Heavy Chevy, King 'Kuda and Nitty Gritty Kitty. It was also the debut of the Heavyweights Series.
While 1971 was the last of the Spoilers, it was the introduction of AMX/2, Jet Threat, Bye-Focal, Grass Hopper, Olds 442, Cockney Cab, Strip Teaser, T-4-2, S'Cool Bus, Classic Cord and others.
1972 was thin on new models, but they were pretty amazing: Funny Money, Ferrari 512s, Open Fire, Mercedes-Benz C-111, and those rear engine funny cars of Mongoose and Snake.
1973 saw the debut of less common models, like Double Header, Sweet 16 and super valuable Superfine Turbine. It was also the year of the Shell Promo. These were cheaply made cars, but today, they are highly desirable.
The Flying Colors series saw the last of the original redlines cars. But there were a lot of great models from these years, like Baja Bruiser, Rodger Dodger, Backwoods Bomb, Gremlin Grinder, Monte Carlo Stocker, Torino Stocker, and many more.
